There's something inviting about this image. This house served as a backdrop in another of my paintings "Storm Warning"
[link] (I changed the color of the house and it's the side instead of the front).
I think the subject of old buildings, cars, and human-made things is overdone, but to me this image seems more than that. The only new thing in good condition in this image is the flag. The image runs parallel to the state of my country right now. It seems the structure is in disarray and our attention is being redirected to the flag. I often find myself depressed about how off course my country has gone within the past 7 years. It has so much promise.
No empire or civilization lasts forever. But it is indeed sobering to watch it being hastened along to its demise.
This painting took me about 10 weeks to complete.
